Knox County Inmate Profile Details

Missing Knox County Inmate Records

Black-and-white copies are no charge for 1 to 19 pages, then $0.15 per page for 20 or more pages. Color copies are no charge for 1 to 9 pages, then $0.25 per page for 10 or more pages. CDs cost $2.00, DVDs cost $3.00, and USB sticks cost $10.00.
Prepayment may be required, and full payment is required before records are released. Extra postage or large storage-device costs may apply. The records page says payment must be by check or money order and that cash is not accepted. Emailed copies are not charged. ORC 149.43 supports public access to records held by public offices, but exemptions can still apply to confidential law-enforcement investigatory records, sealed records, juvenile material, medical records, and other protected data.

Knox County State Federal Searches
Local jail records, state prison records, and federal custody records answer different questions. Knox County Jail records show current local custody when the person is in the county jail. ODRC records show people incarcerated in Ohio prisons, under ODRC supervision, judicially released, or listed as violators at large. BOP records search federal inmates from 1982 to the present. The jail is the same facility used for the current roster PDF, video visitation, inmate accounts, incoming commitments, scanned mail, and jail records. It also has a jail fax and medical fax listed in research, but the direct jail phone is the most useful public contact for custody questions.

Knox County Booking Process
The incoming-commitments PDF gives useful local intake detail. It says the booking process includes an inventory of every item an inmate brings into the jail and asks commitments to bring only allowed and necessary items. Current picture identification is required for incoming commitments. The commitment sheet says $30 is required for Basic Mat Rental and the Inmate Processing Fee. The jail page and annual reports also state that sentenced inmates booked into and released from the Knox County Jail are assessed a $20 inmate processing fee deducted from commissary.
Booking also connects to the roster. The public PDF includes a front mugshot column and arrest date, so booking photos and arrest dates are part of the current custody report. The research did not locate an exact official rule for how quickly a new booking appears on the PDF. Formal charge status should be checked through Mount Vernon Municipal Court, Knox County Common Pleas, or the proper clerk because prosecutors can amend, reduce, dismiss, or replace charges after booking.
Knox County Jail Visitation
The jail uses video visitation. The jail page says visitors go to jailatm.com, choose Video Visitation or Onsite Visit, create an account through Securus, receive Knox County Jail approval, and schedule a visit with a specific inmate. The inmate scheduled is the only inmate who may be visited at that time. Visiting a different inmate can suspend the account.

Visitor approval requires positive picture ID. The jail lists driver's license, state ID, government ID, and passport examples. The picture must clearly identify the visitor, and the jail says apparel that obscures appearance, such as sunglasses or hats, is not accepted for the photo.
Mail Phone Money
Knox County Jail uses scanned mail to reduce contraband. The 2024 sheriff report says inmate mail goes to a location that scans and uploads the mail to an inmate account viewable in the dorms. The jail page says mail must include the full facility name and state, plus the inmate's unique identifier. The sender's full name and physical address must appear clearly in the top-left corner. Legal mail is accepted and should follow the jail's legal-mail instructions.
For phone and billing support, the jail page points to ICSolutions, the ICS Mobile app, and 1 (800) 506-8407. Commissary and video visitation funding are linked to JailATM on the jail page. The jail also warns that if the inmate owes jail fees, money placed on the account will be applied to that debt.
